Millennium 3 Energy was incorporated in the Spring of 2009. By that time owner Phil Kelly had “learned the ropes” for being a construction contractor, and earned a certificate of completion at an American Solar Energy Society Conference that included solar company start up training. He has been designing and installing solar systems and has been a student of the renewable energy industry since. Phil became a NABCEP Certified PV Installation ProfessionalTM in 2013, and a Maryland Home Improvement Commission licensee in 2014. A sister company founded in 2010, M3E Solar, owns and operates a 104 KW solar system that provides all the electricity for the Town of Hancock’s waste water treatment facility.
Phil is a native of Washington County and has never left the beautiful Cumberland Valley. He holds a BSBA and MBA from Shippensburg University in PA. He spent most of his professional career with very large companies --Allegheny Power and Citigroup, and then spent nearly 2 years with an electrical construction company. Phil has had interesting variety in his professional life. He's been a residential energy auditor, a computer programmer/analyst, the manager of a customer service department, a public relations executive, and an operations manager. Bitten by the entrepreneurship bug, he founded Millennium 3 Energy in 2009. Phil is well-known to many in the area for volunteer leadership positions he's held over the years, including United Way Campaign Chair, Board Chairman of the Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce, and service on many other non-profits and task forces.
